Angry Kicked Out of Wal*Mart Parkesburg (Chester County) for Open Carry

*** Wal*Mart in Parkesburg, PA is NO longer gun friendly. ***

So, I went to Wal*Mart in Parkesburg (Chester County) like I do every week. This time I went because my sister had to cash a large check and didn't wanna walk around with it in her pocket by herself. So, I went with her.

We were around the electronics section when we both split up. She went to food and I had to get body wash. As we split, I was approached by an Asst Manager named Bill (last name unknown). He was a taller, bigger build and bald. Convo went something like this:

    Bill: Excuse me sir.
    ME: Yes?
    Bill: Are you Law Enforcment?
ME: Do I look like a LEO?
Bill: No. So, I'm gonna have to ask you to leave.
    ME: For...?
Bill: You cannot have a firearm in this store.
ME: Since when? I was here yesterday.
    Bill: Since always.
    ME: Really?
    Bill: Yes.
ME: How long have you worked here?
    Bill: 3 years.
ME: Funny I've never seen you before. But, OK. I will leave. I just gotta find my sister.
Bill: OK. I will come with you while you find your sister.
    ME: OK.

We continue talking as we get outside of the store...

ME: By the way, here is a paper containing some PA Gun Law for you to read.
    Bill: For what?
ME: So you know I'm not breaking the law. And, so this kind of thing doesn't happen again.
ME: Also, I will be contacting Wal*Mart Corporate to get in writing their policy on firearms.
Bill: OK. If they say it's "OK" then I will gladly allow you back in the store.
ME: OK. Sounds fair. I'll be in touch.
    Bill: Have a good one.
    ME: You too.

Tell him that "since always" corporate policy is to follow state laws.

EDIT: You beat me. If you knew it then why did you take this guys unnecessary harassment?

When the eye of the Bill is upon you, any wrong you do he's gonna see. So when you're in WalMart look behind you, 'cause that's where the Bill is gonna be.

Good job keeping your cool. Make sure you give corporate his name. Let us know how this goes.

    Walmart Corporate: 800-925-6278

    Walmart Legal: 479-273-4505

I've never had an issue, but I keep the numbers in my phone so that the manager (or employee) and I can speak to Legal on the spot if it ever becomes necessary.

Any attitude from me and he calls the LEO saying I'm getting hostile. I ain't going to jail on some bogus BS claim. I'll leave and take my business somewhere else. But, I will be getting my lawyer involved as well as WM Corporate.

Hmm. Never thought about that. I guess I gotta program some new numbers into my phone. Lol. Thanks.

No need for attitude, ask for a manager who actually knows corporate policy or for him to go and check his own stores policies before harassing a customer for his own personal agenda.

As a group, we have been here before. Several encounters have chronicled the contacting of Wally corporate, and the response has, up to this point, been " we follow state law ". Hopefully, this was just a misunderstanding on the part of an eager beaver lackey. Please follow through with contacting their headquarters, and let us know their response. I'm hopeful they'll come back with the standard response, but if they have changed policy, we need to know. Personally, I shop Wal-Mart and Sams Club, and open carry in both. I like Sams Club, except paying for membership. If they have changed policy, then I will certainly take my business elsewhere.

Wow, there were no responses when I started this post, I didn't think I took THAT long. Damn wrist brace slowing me down.
