Can a felon ever own a gun in Pa?

If you served 37 months for 1 crime, then it was punishable by more than 24 months, and it's federally prohibiting. You would need a Pardon from the Governor, or an expungement after you turn 70.

That's why we handle Pardons here. People don't want to wait decades to get their rights back. But Pardons do take a couple of years or so. The Board is backed up.

And I just saw a fakebook post from Gov Wolf that the pardon application fee has been eliminated so it will probably get backed up even more so now.

Interesting how Kansas treats certain felons and firearms possession.

While under Kansas law, it seems a felon, with limitations, can possess a firearm, but there is no federal relief under Kansas law.

The bigger question is if he can give them to you or your brother. You often hear about not being able to sell to prohibited persons. Everyone knows that. But what about a prohibited person giving a firearm to a NON-prohibited person?

Even if it is your father I personally wouldn't touch this until I talked with a lawyer.

I saw the original poster had only one post (still). The new guy who answered like he was the OP only has 2 (and likely to stay that way). Thought they were the same and didn't realize there was 6 years in between.
