Re: Polishing my LCP
I'm only guessing here but I would have to say yes it will be more prone to rusting now that the protective finish has been removed. But I could be wrong.

Re: Polishing my LCP
Since polishing the barrel on my Ruger SR9c and it has shown less wear and no rust at all.
There are 3 parts to the DIY video I put on youtube.
part 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABytdWZEc-c
links to parts 2 & 3 are in the video descriptions.
I also have a DIY polishing feed ramp video on my channel.

Re: Polishing my LCP
Although bluing does provide some protection against rust it doesn't make steel rust proof, you need to keep it clean and oiled to keep moisture from doing it's damage.
My dad rebarreled one of his varmint rifles a few years ago and left it "in the white". He keeps it clean with a light coat of gun oil on it and hasn't had any rust issues at all.
I had one of my 6.5X55 modified to 6.5X55 BJ Ackley a few years ago and had some exterior modifications done to the barrel which resulted in removing the bluing and I haven't had a rust problem.
In my honest opinion, if you keep it properly maintained you shouldn't have a problem.Last edited by mauser; July 8th, 2012 at 09:23 PM.

Re: Polishing my LCP
I will post pictures as soon as I can get them. Today I did my SR40C barrel and wow it looks great. I will make it nicer as soon as I can get a buffing pad for my dremel. But it still looks very nice it is almost chrome like.
