    Default 1911 Alternatives??

I'm slowly, but surely saving up for a used 1911 somewhere in the $500-$700 range. But I got to thinking, for that price, there is a lot out there to be had new (or close to it).

I kinda like the idea of an M&P, but am looking for other suggestions. Preferably in a full size, .40 or .45, ambidextrous, and at least semi-compreable to a 1911. Still really like (and want) the 1911, but would like recommendations on alternatives.

    Thx

I really like my (no-poly) Baby Desert Eagle (aka. Jericho 941) but it is only semi-compact in .45. It is too heavy for me to want to carry but it is slightly lighter than a 1911 in the all steel model.

There is no alternative to a 1911... you have to own at least one.

Why don't you just get a 1911 in the $500-$700 price range? A little searching ought to turn up a couple options, new and used.

There's a guy currently selling 2 of them in the classified section, a Ruger, new, for $750, and a Para for $700.

You can find and buy RIA 1911s from a shop all day long in the $500 range.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

My alternative is a new SA mil spec. Two smiths in two different 1911 do all books rate it as one of the best production 1911's on the market, at any price (production, not custom or semi custom). Even the stainless version is under $700 if you shop around.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

This is about what I was expecting to hear... LOL

Just figured while I was out window shopping this weekend, I should finger up a few alternatives (that probably sounds a bit creepy).

When it comes to 1911's, stick to your guns, and leave the fingering for other things.

Here is a nice little review for your viewing and reading pleasure:

There are no alternatives to the 1911, no not one, maybe some pistols that will fire the 45 acp round that was developed around the 1911, but none like it, if your looking for 1911 alternatives, you are not worthy of one yet, get a Glock.

shoot safe, shoot straight, and have fun
