Default PA resident with VA ccp

I moved to Lancaster, PA last December from Chesapeake, VA. I have a VA ccp that is good for 4.5 more years. I know PA has a reciprocity agreement with VA over their concealed weapon permits. However, can I use my valid VA ccp even though I have become a PA resident? Or do I have to get a PA ccp since I'm now a PA resident. Thanks!

If there is reciprocity you can use it in PA.

Just stay 1000' away from school zones

PA doesn't care. I don't know if VA cares - they get a vote on whether your permit is valid or not.

Federal law says that if you are within 1000 feet of a school property you need a permit issued by the state the school is located in. Which is kind of stupid, because I don't think you could drive around most states under a reciprocal permit without coming within 1000 feet of a school at some point. I keep asking around and never hear about people being charged with this, but it is a federal law and you ignore it at serious peril.

Also, I would guess it's more likely to get a hassle on an out of state permit from a particularly dumbass cop than with a PA LTCF.

I think if you move here it's probably just $20 well spent to get the PA LTCF.

Speaking of the 1000' away from school zone law, since it is a federal thing, can a local or state cop enforce it or if upon realizing someone has broken that law, would they have to call in the FBI or some other fed cop?

When you go to the Lancaster county Sheriff's Office, might want to plan on spending a couple extra minutes there. Folks have been reporting that they issue while you wait, the wait being maybe 10 - 15 minutes!
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.
