Default Can I go to the shooting range?

Hello, can I legally go to and from the shooting range without a license to concealing and carry. I will be applying for one ASAP but I want to know if I can legally transport the firearm (in my car)to and from the range. Thank You.

Thank you (mostlyharmless) for the lightning fast answer via the link to a similar question. I'm gonna go for the maiden voyage tomorrow.

FWIW - the s.6102 definition of "Loaded" was changed last year to:

"Loaded." A firearm is loaded if the firing chamber, the nondetachable magazine or, in the case of a revolver, any of the chambers of the cylinder contain ammunition capable of being fired. In the case of a firearm which utilizes a detachable magazine, the term shall mean a magazine suitable for use in said firearm which magazine contains such ammunition and has been inserted in the firearm or is in the same container or, where the container has multiple compartments, the same compartment thereof as the firearm. If the magazine is inserted into a pouch, holder, holster or other protective device that provides for a complete and secure enclosure of the ammunition, then the pouch, holder, holster or other protective device shall be deemed to be a separate compartment.

I doubt Webster would agree with this definition. Sounds like a Jersey law.

Added point - I recall a LTCF/hunting license is needed to shoot at one of the SGL ranges - or - purchase of some form of "range permit"??

Private clubs/ranges this item would not apply.

I believe a ltcf dosen't grant permission to shoot at a SGL nor is it required.

Correct. I used to shoot at the SGL ranges before I had an LTCF (which was allowed). Now I have an LTCF, but due to the range use permit/hunting license requirement I never visit the SGL ranges anymore.

Question Re: Can I go to the shooting range?

Thanks again. Now to simplify this . If I understand this...... loaded is when there are bullets in the chamber or if a filled magazine is in the same compartment as the firearm. Even if the filled magazine is not placed in the gun. If you place the filled magazine in a seperate compartment from the firearm than its not considered loaded. Yes? No? Maybe?

Ok. After going over it again. The magazine must be in a completely seperate compartment. Not in the same bag in a seperate compartment. In order to be considered unloaded.
