    Default Powder valley?

    Hi guys,

Sorry if this was asked before.. Anyone have experience ordering from Powder Valley? How is their shipping charges on bullets?

Their website only says "Shipping charges will be added". But it doesn't show the shipping cost before checkout.

    Thanks.

Had good dealings there, but find I need a fairly big order to really make out on it. Usually go in with someone for a large order. From their homepage bout half way down: "Shipping will be calculated and added to your order. Our typical shipping charges are based on the subtotal of your order. Subtotal <$150.00, shipping $9.95; <$300.00, $13.95; <$600.00, $15.95; >$600, $19.95. Please use this as a guide only ' Add the hazmat fee if applicable. Can't remember any surprises on shipping fees.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

I have been buying from them for several years. Powder and Primers. I always try to maximize my orders to lower the effect of the HAZMAT charge, which is usually more expensive than the shipping charge alone.

I just placed my first order with them a week and a half ago. Super pleased!! Will be dealing with them again considering they have the best prices I have found on the web!

When I factor in local sales tax and the higher prices at the loacl shops, that hazmat fee doesn't look bad at all!

Bear in mind there is a weight limit on the hazmat fee before it ticks over into a 2nd package and a second fee. So it is possible to mix primers and powder to maximize the hazmat fee. PV's customer service should be able to tell you what the limits are. Be sure to check!

Powder Valley is GTG, as are Wideners, Graf and Sons, and a few others. What I do is sit down once a yuear and order the primers I think I will need in batches of 5K. Then whatever powder I am loading in bulk in 8 lb kegs, that way the haz mat is spread pretty thin. I buy some powder locally but that is usually just 1 lb cans to try out.

    Cool! Thanks everyone.
I won't be ordering powder or primers yet, since I have not settled on what to use long term. Just bullets for now.
