colt 1991 double action only 1911 stytle
HI guys. My wife just wanted to buy me a colt so bad and the salesman at targetmaster made this gun seem great. Curious of any thoughts people have. I am picking it up tomorrow at my transfer agent ( i live in delaware).
I figure it will take 8 round mags like any 1911.
my concerns are the lower is aluminum and follow up shots
having the trigger pull he harder than a typical 1911
I actually will probably carry it, which is what the guy said it was for, but I also like to target shoot as well.I offer discounts on freeze dried foods, knives and other prepping products.

Sounds like a Double Eagle

A flop for Colt. If the frame is aluminum it's probably the lightweight officers model. I believe the full size guns were all steel.
Edit, or, it could be a New Agent DAO;

Thats what it sounds like the Double Eagle unless you want to collect Colts. I'd steer clear of that one. It was a flop for Colt trigger and some ejection problems. The Para Ord DA was made and sold better. Some people thought that the Dbl Eagle was a good looking gun. Not I.

Sounds like a Double Eagle to me. I own one that is all stainless. There is an officers model with alum. frame blued slide... I'm not sure if they hold 8 or 7 though.
I personally love the gun! Mine is very-very accurate, and the only gun other than my xd9 that hasn't missed a beat.
The sa pull is very clean and in the four # range.
The main flaw is the grip design. (early models used the grip to retain part of the trigger mech.)
Writers made the mistake of calling it an upgraded 1911. We all know that is impossible. However, call it a Double Eagle that doesn't have to be "cocked and locked" and it makes a helluva lot of sense. I trust my life with mine, shoot yours and see how you feel about it.
Btw, the mags interchange.

Wow, I stand corrected. There is a colt 1991 dao! I thank you for pointing that out to me, but I'm pissed that I now have another gun on my must own list. Hey, shoot it with an open mind and post a review of your thoughts.
Hey, if you don't like it pm me a price you would sell it for.

Re: colt 1991 double action only 1911 stytle
Is this a new pistol, or used? Colt announced the "new" double action pistol more than two years ago, I saw and handled prototypes in the factory well over a year ago, it has been in their catalog -- but nobody has ever reported seeing one for sale.
It looked to me to be basically the same as the Double Eagle. The Double Eagle was a decent firearm, but nobody wanted a double action 1911, and the goofy trigger guard wouldn't fit standard 1911 holsters. This new pistol is supposed to address the shortcomings of the Double eagle.

If it is the old "double eagle" -
I have had a few come through the shop. They are uncomfortable to fire. They seem to work OK, but I would not trust one to carry. They were a marketing disaster for Colt.
It seems Colt was trying to appease the chuckle heads who liked Colts but could not get their pea-brains around cocked and locked carry.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Probably this one:
IANAL. I don't give legal advice. I'm only stating my OPINION.
(Did I really need to say that on an Internet forum? LOL)

Assuming it's the New Agent - I believe this is an Officer's sized frame. 8-rd mags may fit and latch, but there will be a bit hanging out. Wilson Combat makes 7-rd Officer's sized mags.
Trench type sights aren't exactly conducive to "target shooting" unless those targets are full-size silhouettes at 7 yards.
This is an optimized carry piece for those that like the 1911 but aren't overly fond of cocked & locked carry.
