    Default which do you prefer

I know this might've been done, but i didnt see anything about it. So what is your EDC weapon and caliber? My dad and I got into a little debate the other day, he likes his smith 5906 and i like my 1911. he like the 9mm because it holds the 15 +1 vs my 8+1. i like 9mm too but only because of the mag capacity. Is the 9mm good for personal protection? Is it not? I used to carry a ruger p95 in 9mm (my first gun) but i was told 9mm wasnt good for self defense.

why is the 9mm not good for self defense ? does the 9mm bullet hurt less ? also are you only going to fire one bullet ?

it was explained to me like that a long time ago after that i love 9mm's

This debate will go on forever.

Every caliber has pluses and minuses.

I see nothing wrong with 9mm. Modern ammo is the reason.

Plenty of bad guys have been stopped with a 9mm.

My EDC is a tuned Astra Firecat, .25 ACP. Speers are the projectiles. May not be John Holmes, but she'll know you've been there.

People got to stop with the "is 9mm enough"? .45 ACP, 9mm, .380, .44 mag; any of which hits a non vital spot on the bad guy and it may piss him off, more. 9mm in the right spot and he'll be in the obits. You want to defend yourself with a gun, learn to shoot it.

Yes it will I am afraid.

9mm is a fine defensive round. It has been combat proven in many engagements and is lighter than it's famed counterparts (40 S&W and 45 ACP).

    I CCW a Glock 19 with 147gr Ranger T's.

When I carry a double-stack it is a highly modified Hi Power or a Wilson Spec Ops. Both in 9mm.

When I carry a single stack it is a 1911 in .45 acp.

Double-stack-9mm-single stack-.45 acp.-doesn't get much easier than that.

I love shooting all my guns, but my 9mm Beretta is my favorite. It's also the one that I carry the most, and my primary home defense gun.

I'm of the frame of mind that the 380 is the less self defense caliber I'd carry.

When I do EDC it's either a dbl stack 40 cal or 9mm or dbl stack 45acp. Deep conceal is a smaller dbl stack 9mm or 1911 single stack 45acp. I likes odds in my favor.

My EDC is a .40 cal Firestar. 6 + 1 in the pipe, single stack. Works just fine for me.

Why? Because I'm comfortable with it, confident it will work, and quite frankly, it's the only handgun I currently own.

Is 9mm sufficient for self defense? I always found the, personally, a ridiculous question. With good shot placement, a .25 will stop an attacker just as well as any other. Might not be as 'sexy' but it'll do the job.
