to who have bought from ar15sales / legal transfers using CC
Did he charge a 2% fee for using a credit card? I was looking at my CC statement and noticed it was higher then the price told over the phone. I gave him a call and he told me there was a 2% fee for using a CC. He said he told me when I placed my order but I do not remember hearing so. Its really no big deal, it only added like $20, but just wanted to verify if thats the norm.
Thanks

Re: to who have bought from ar15sales / legal transfers using CC
that happened to me about ten years ago when i put some money down on a truck at a dealer. the dealer said they wouldnt charge me the 3% 285.00 but they did. i called the cc company and told them, they said its only legal to do in one state, and that was delaware. needless to say i got my 285.00 back from the dealer after the cc company called them.. you should check into it. maybe the laws have changed since..

Re: to who have bought from ar15sales / legal transfers using CC
Thanks for the information. After reading that I did a quick google search and found some articles stating that it does violate the visa/mastercard merchant agreement. I will see what others will say when they chime in. I am not going to bring it up if others are charged the fee also.

.
I've seen dealers/businesses use the terms 'Cash Discount' so technically they aren't charging you more for the CC, your getting a break for paying with cash or a money order.
Same difference, but apparently its all in the wording.

indeed.. it's all in the wording.. they are not permitted to charge you more if you decide to pay with a CC per the MC/Visa agreement, but they can offer you a 'cash discount', and that's how most places seem to skirt the issue.. thanks for sharing, and welcome to the boards.

Re: to who have bought from ar15sales / legal transfers using CC
I do not mind the service fee if he charges all CC users, its more of did others get charge the same fee. The email quote and phone quote had no mention of this fee, and no mention that this is a cash only price or any mention that using a CC is an additional fee. I appreciate all the information!

IMO 2% is reasonable and since Pete @ Legal Transfers does offer SUPERB prices and good customer service I would accept it. I honestly can't remember if I was charged 2% or not because it would not seem out of place to me if I was.

I don't know why but it seems to be common with firearm dealers (both local and internet). I buy a lot of firearms so I guess I am use to it....I can't remember any non firearm establishment that charged me extra % now that I think about it.
