    Default Night Sights for BHP

OK, so I've been looking for night sights to put on my Hi-Powers. Normally I'd go with Truglo TFOs, I have them on my G19 and love them and will be putting them on my other handguns that they are made for but they don't make them for my Hi-Powers. There are lots of good night sights out there but not all are made for Hi-Powers. So now the question becomes do I get the Trijicons, the Meprolights or some other that I am unaware of. All input appreciated but lets try to keep it relevant to the Hi-Power and please give me a viable reason why I should pick one over the others. Thanks guys and gals.

either trijicon or XS night sight.
More I use it, more I like the way XS sight works

I too like the XS Sights...but between Triji's and Mep's of the same/similar model...whatever is on sale or cheaper. I haven't noticed much of a difference myself.

    Heinie Straight Eight sights

I have them on a couple of Glocks, and will be buying another set shortly. The "lamps" are made by Trijicon, and don't have the white outline, which I find more distracting than helpful.

The Trijicon sights come with a fat front sight which really stinks when you're trying to make an accurate shot.

I've never used the Heinie-style sights, but they'll be on my next pistol so I'll get a chance to check them out. I like the concept though.

ok on your hi power do u have:

a FIXED dovetail sight front and rear

an old mount stake on front

    an adjustable rear sight....

if the rear sight is adjustable:

is the the old style with the hollow shell or the new style that looks like a millet adjustable sight??

if they are fixed sights and dovetail then meprolight or trijicon will work.

if adjustable and its the old style sight you might get away with using a millet with the lamps...check the trijicon sight page.

if its the new style adjustables then you are going to need a rear sight with a dovetail dimension close to the taurus pt 99 as the dovetail is that wide.

Im trying to get a set of champion sights for the 1911 to go on my Hi Power.

The front post is a dovetail and the front sight needed a good deal of fitting before it went into the dovetail....The kentsight from Champion which is billed to fit the Hi Power didnt work as the dovetail was wayy to wide to work.

I have a spare bo mar made by Champion that has the trijicon lamps and will see if that works... if not then its silver solder time for the kentsight.

    hope this helps

The fat front sights were not designed for Target Guns to "make an accurate shot" they were designed for self defense guns they alow you to acquire the sights much more quickyly , just put that big bright dot on the BG com and Pull the trigger , especially useful when used with the Heinie straight eight.

Use the right tool for the right job and e v erything will be ok.

Can't go wrong with Novaks, but I prefer the Heinie straight eights.

As mentioned above the XS sights are pretty slick, I had them on my Sig 220 and they worked very well once I got use to them. My wife still has them on her Kimber Ultra and liked them alot.

It all really boils down to personal preference, but I'd either go with the XS Big Dots or the Heinie's with a tritium front only.

I think the Heinie sights would be more pleasing to the eye with the lines of the BHP, but Charles Daly made HPs that came from the factory with the standard dots IIRC, and they didn't look to bad.

If your more concerned with using the HP for defensive purposes, I'd probably go with the big dots.

A lot of people say that the Big Dots don't give you the accuracy that standard sights do, but I liked them just fine, I didn't get to go out past 25 yards with them, and I really couldn't tell the difference in results.

I have the Heinie sights on my Baer, and I'm probably going to send it back in and have a new rear installed, mine is getting pretty beat up.

I have front staked & rear adj with the shell construction. See pic, it enlarges with a click. I'd love to dump these sights for tritium night sights, but I'm not cutting the gun up to do it.

    It's an '82 Belgian.

    From Trijicon's web site:

"Old Hi-Powers, dovetail conversion green front & green rear night
sight set. A dovetail conversion will have to be done by a
professional gunsmith to install this set."

Any way to avoid chopping it up?
