Lancaster County attempting to ban firearms in County parks
Along with banning swimming in creeks and ponds, they want to ban discharging paintball markers, throwing rocks off cliffs, and you read it right, carrying firearms.
A guy in Stevens, Pa and his constitutional lawyer from Millersville have challenged the attempt.
He was also told by a park ranger how they disarmed a man in the park who was carrying a firearm and made him secure it in his vehicle. --- I can't prove this or provide details other than from our conversation.
This man and his lawyer are challenging the county commissioners saying it violates state law and the rights of those with "concealed carry permits." I talked to him about it being a License To Carry Firearms, not a concealed carry permit and also informed him I did not want to debate strategy or the advantages/disadvantages of the two types of carrying. I simply stated that carrying a firearm open or concealed cannot/should not be banned in county parks.
I contacted him this morning to ask some more questions in regards to the article and the disputes.
Here is the article which prompted the conversation.

Re: Lancaster County attempting to ban firearms in County parks
"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

Re: Lancaster County attempting to ban firearms in County parks
As mentioned. Clearly not legal.
§ 6120. Limitation on the regulation of firearms and
ammunition.(a) General rule.--No county, municipality or township may
in any manner regulate the lawful ownership, possession,
transfer or transportation of firearms, ammunition or ammunition
components when carried or transported for purposes not
prohibited by the laws of this Commonwealth.
