    Default Good field dressing videos?

Would you guys be willing to share which videos (on youtube or else) you find to be among the best at teaching/demonstrating how to field dress a deer?

I have never field dressed a deer (though did assist in "field dressing" a lamb once YEARS ago) and so I need a bit of direction in this regard. I don't have a buddy who has experience so I'm going to have to rely on instructional videos and such so if anybody has any recommendations, please share them.

    Thanks in advance.

If you search "field dress a deer" on YouTube, you'll find enough.

    Also, see this thread:

There's also huntingPA.com where a wealth of information lies.

Attached are Penn State's guides to field dressing & processing game & fish as well.

I'm a Steven Rinella fan, and he appears to be starting to upload some more educational videos as well:

The resources CL3 posted are very good. I dont have any specific youtube videos to recommend but a general youtube search with provide a multitude of videos, watch a few you should be able to judge if they are quality or not yourself. I can however recommend that you have a very sharp knife, a razor sharp knife makes field dressing a deer much easier. Cutting through hide and splitting the pelvic bone will dull a knife quickly if it doesnt have a good edge so bringing along a pocket sharpener is also a good idea if you have room in your pack/hunting vest/or pockets.

Google/Check out a "Wyoming knife" or other similar type knife or guthook knife, they are very good for beginners, they make making the cut from the rib cage to the pelvis quick and very easy. They also reduce the chances of nicking the guts and potentially tainting the meat. Best of luck

I would have to guess that you never killed a deer yet?!!!!! Just kidding. I had to learn first hand with my brother teaching me at the nice age of 26. I would recommend watching a few but when it comes time for hunting season, go out or have a friends number to call to help "guide" you as you do the dressing....
