Default Smith & wesson internal lock question?

Does anyone know what year S & W started to put the internal lock on the model 357 model 686. I just picked one up used and it came with no box. The revolver itself is in very good condition just no box.

    Thanks,
    Savvar

Never mind found it on their website. Model year 2001/2002.

Gun control is hitting what you aim for.

Default Re: Smith & wesson internal lock question?

Seems a bit of a non-sequitor - not sure what the box has to do with the lock, unless he's looking for the date of manufacture. But, even with that, how would you know whether it was the initial year.

All that nonsense aside, the first 686 with an internal lock was the 6th engineering change (686-6) which came out in 2001.
