    Default SR9 striker problem

I have a SR9 that I bought about 3 years ago, the tab on the bottom of the striker has broken off 3 times and ruger replaced it every time but I wonder what the problem is?. I dey fire about 10 times a day with each hand {total of 20] cause it is hard to get to a range and ammo isn't cheap. The owner's manual says dry firing is OK but could 20 a day be excessive and causing the breakages ?.

Do you dry fire with an empty magazine? If it's the same as the SR9c, the manual says not to dryfire without an empty magazine due to the mag-disconnect.

You might want to get snap caps. Get the one with plastic as primer. It will "cushion" your striker.

I always have the mag in place and an aluminum snapcap.

I have a SR9C and I dry fire it right now I have no problem with the bottom of the striker breaking. I do use a snap cap. But my mag disconnect does not work the gun will fire with mag out. Every thing other then that is fine.

I have an SR9 and had the exact same thing happen after taking a pistol class. We dry fired extensively and I always had an empty mag in. I had Ruger replace it, then upgraded to a Glock. The SR9 been sitting in its case ever since.
