Sadly, Photobucket screwed us out of a lot of content, but maybe we can just add to it and keep on going?

I was one of those poor kids in college who had to sell my motorcycle for book money and literally lived in an oversized closet in a friends house for $100 rent.. but my biggest regret was selling my lever action Marlin 35 caliber rifle for tuition money one semester.. should have kept that.

Did you ever get the loading gate fixed on that rifle? I remember the day you got it (I think from Frenchy?)

Ha! You noticed it in the pic too?

Nope. I regret not writing down what parts Frenchy suggested I replace. It was a "project gun" he had bought and he never got around to doing anything further than stripping down some bluing/rust and re-staining the stock.

The loading gate just gets loose after shooting it a bit. Tightening the screw behind it snugs it right back up.

I think he mentioned something about the cartridge elevator too. Could be why 38 Special rounds (and even certain brands of 357) won't load properly.
As long as I stick to the two brands I know work, it's not a problem.

I have the same rifle. I was my first lever rifle. Almost felt like John Wayne when I picked it up at the auction.

My 1894c 357 is probably my favorite rifle. Fun to plink with at short ranges, then even more fun stretching it out to 100 and even 200 yards.
