Planned, Sporadic Downtime between 5/26 and 6/3

Just talked to Kim Stolfer and after discussing it with him we will be doing the switchover Wednesday morning which is the absolute latest I can push out the transfer.

Any chance you can shut down the forum at Late O'Clock (say, after tonight's session is finished) and start the transfer then, so that the forum will be up as early as possible in the morning? That'll minimize the downtown during prime coordination hours.

It's not that simple unfortunately, and I have to sleep at some point

If I stay up all night to do the transfer I'll be asleep during the day when people start using the forum again, if something goes wrong I won't be available to fix it and we'll be down anyway.

Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I wasn't intending for you to stay up all night. I was more thinking of letting the data transfer happen while you slept, so the automatic (and time intensive) part could happen when time wasn't an issue -- you know, like letting an sftp/scp run all night unattended.

But, you know what the process involves far better than I do. If it would've involved you being up all night... definitely do not do that. I'd rather the forum be down for the transfer during the day than for you to burn the midnight oil unnecessarily for something like this. Totally with you on the sleep!

OK ladies and gents, I'm going to do this switchover tonight starting in about 20 minutes. Based on my schedule and the pending legislation I think this is the least bad time to do it.
