    Default Concealed Carry in Philly

Hi all, I'm new to PAFOA and had a question about concealed carry in the city of Philadelphia. I recently received my license to conceal and I'll be visiting a relative who lives in center city a few times each year. A friend of mine told me that I can not carry while in Philly, saying that because of the size of the city's population, the city is in a certain class and concealed carry is not legal. I was under the impression that once i got my LTCF I could carry anywhere in the state of PA. Can anyone tell me what the law is?? Can you carry a concealed weapon in Philly with a LTCF or not??

Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

    Yes, you can.

See §6108 of the PA Uniform Firearms Act
§ 6108. Carrying firearms on public streets or public property
    in Philadelphia.

No person shall carry a firearm, rifle or shotgun at any time
upon the public streets or upon any public property in a city of
    the first class unless:
    (1) such person is licensed to carry a firearm
    ; or
    (2) such person is exempt from licensing under section
6106(b) of this title (relating to firearms not to be carried
    without a license).

    § 6109. Licenses

    (a) Purpose of license.--A license to carry a firearm shall be for the purpose of carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's person or in a vehicle throughout this Commonwealth.

    "Throughout this Commonwealth" includes Philly.

Make sure you keep it concealed unless you pull it out to use it.

To be more specific, open carry is NOT prohibited by law in Phila if you possess a valid LTCF.
BUT - word is that the police will illegally harass you.

Thanks for the info guys. I definitely plan on carrying on my next trip and I wanted to do so without having to worry whether or not I am not 100% legal.
