Re: Stick-shift or Automatic?
once you drive a stick it just doesn't feel the same in an automatic...

Re: Stick-shift or Automatic?
I gotta have an automatic. With one foot clutching, and the other gassing or breaking, how am I going to use a knee to steer as I shave and text?
J/K - Too much traffic on my daily commute for my left knee to handle a clutch, but I'm looking for a heavy duty beater truck to use at my camp and that'll be a stick for sure.

Re: Stick-shift or Automatic?
I have one of each, but both are rear wheel drive. Auto is nice sometimes to just get in the car and drive, especially long trips with friends when you're taking turns driving.
The Jeep XJ is stick and I love that thing. I've had three stick rwd BMWs and one stick FWD VW.
My wife's first car was stick, but it was a FWD civic.

Re: Stick-shift or Automatic?
I miss the manual.
The VW has the shift-tronic and I use it all the time because in auto mode it's funny. It always goes to the highest gear possible and downshifts 2 or 3 when needed, usually a second AFTER you needed the power. For windy back roads and moving through heavy traffic it's much safer to control the gear.
And if you leave it in Shift-tronic it will shift at redline so it's great for coming off the line in a hurry, even for a 1.8L

When I was younger I like the manual transmission.
