Mine is "just" a RIA tactical, however it is the most reliable (besides its initial cleaning I have not cleaned it in a year with no malfunctions) and most accurate hand gun I have owned/shot. And yes my sub $500 shoots just as well as ones that cost twice as much. I carry it daily and it sleeps on my night stand.
Thanks, Maybe the RIA would be a good start for me since it is much more affordable

I have heard more good reviews of the RIA 1911 than I have of many other manufacturers. If I was to redo my first 1911 buy, I would buy a mil spec full size RIA 1911 instead of the Kimber that I have.

Go into any gun store and see how many Springfield Armory 1911 pistols they have.

That will answer any questions about what to buy.

the 1911 is so magical that if handguns werent outlawed by the muggles in england dumbledore would have carried one instead of a wand.

I expected some interesting replies from the way I posed the question, did not disappoint.

1911's are historical and great to shoot. I have one and they are a fantastic gun. But I will say, the only thing it does better than my plastic guns is look pretty.

I have a 1911 for a range gun and novelty, nothing more. I carried it once. I don't trust my fine motor skills to swipe the safety. Also, it's heavy. I'll rely on my Glock's or Hk to save my life. I'll rely on my 1911 to look pretty and be fun to shoot. Not saying my plastic guns aren't fun to shoot

I shot one, I didn't buy one. Maybe the one I had was defective?
