Smith and Wesson Performance Center 686 Carry Comp!!!
When you see this, you know it will be good...
Here is a retro flashback to the early days of the Smith and Wesson Performance Center, an early 686 PC Carry Comp 7 shooter. This was built before the much maligned internal lock.
She is wearing Ahrends retro banana grip, which is fantastic.
Seven round cylinder, check. Chamfered charge holes, check.
Power port compensator, check.
Trigger over travel stop, check.
Tear drop PC hammer and hammer mounted firing pin, check. Front and rear night sights, check (will "fix" to be only front night sights with new tritium vial)
They really do make performance devices out of the Performance Center...
She is in great shape for being about 20 years old. This will replace my Mountain Lite that I have taken many photos of. After a couple of hundred rounds, it is clear that this is a quality piece built to last.Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Beautiful gun -- looks brand new. How do you like that compensator port? Reason I ask is I have a Taurus 617 with a ported 2-inch barrel -- nice gun, the ported barrel does a good job reducing muzzle flip, but I do get speckled on my hands and arms with debris from the ports. Not a big deal, but different from my non-ported short-barreled wheelguns.

Re: Smith and Wesson Performance Center 686 Carry Comp!!!
I have not shot any magnum rounds through it yet, all of the rounds so far have been +P 38 specials. I have no problem with the port or any issue of powder residue coming towards me. My only minor complaint is that the trigger return spring could have a few more pounds of resistance, which I can easily remedy.
There is no noticeable fireball coming up from the gun due to the port on the barrel. I have only shot this indoors and have yet to do a low failing light test (which is coming).Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Re: Smith and Wesson Performance Center 686 Carry Comp!!!
Cool. Might just be the angle on the ports on my Taurus, or the American Eagle and UMC ammo I typically shoot in that gun. I haven't noticed any big fireball from the ports, either -- actually I see more flash with .38 Special rounds than .357 mag rounds.
That is an outstanding S&W. Thanks for the pix.
