Need opinions for Colt Umarex .22s
I'm a young inexperienced shooter looking for a cheap but well made .22 to satisfy my shooting needs...
(Ew that sounds like a sleezy newspaper classified add :P )
I'm really looking into these new Colt Umarex .22 M1911's but there are three different models and I can't make up my mind on which one I want to pursue more seriously. I like the old fashioned look of the government, I like the rail option of the other, and I really like the adjustable rear sight of the Gold cup model!
If anyone has experience with these relatively new handguns I would really appreciate some opinions.
--I'm not against hearing recomendations for any other .22 handguns...I know chiappa has a pretty cheap model and a new m9 .22 just came out as well but I don't know anything about them yet. And I'm not into the ruger .22 or the buckmark either as good as they may be I just don't like their look.
My price range is between 350 -475 ishFor a good time call 555-328-5323

After handling both the Colt and the GSG, I went with the GSG ... you may want to take a look at them as well. Picked mine up at the LGS for $295 (wood grip model)

I would get the Gold Cup, for the adjustable sight.
Seriously -- it's a .22. Why would you need a "tactical" rail?

If someone around here had a gsg in stock I would buy it tomorrow! There's a little place down in Richland I could probably order one from... Damn if I could get it for that cheap I would be a happy shooter.

Re: Need opinions for Colt Umarex .22s
I have shot both the GSG and the Colt/Umarex. Each has plusses and minuses. In the end, I couldn't decide which I would rather buy so I didn't buy either. I already have a Ciener conversion on a dedicated receiver I built, so I'll stick with that for the time being. If I didn't already have that, I think I would lean toward the Umarex Gold Cup with the target sights. The one I shot was the basic model with fixed sights. It shot well, but there's no way to adjust vertically for differences in ammo or shooting distance.

Re: Need opinions for Colt Umarex .22s
unfortunately it's like... 100 dollars more than the others. Only having a minimum wage job really sucks. . . . OH! I didn't mention ... I do already have a full sized Range officer M1911 in .45... I could look into conversion kits
I just found a Chiappa target M1911... $324 ...awesome!
It looks the same as the colt but... I wonder if it's just the brand name tacked onto the colt or if there's another reason...some more internet searching should afford me an answer
... 20 minutes later
Read an article a company wrote about the chiappa... Really heavy trigger pull making it unpleasant to shoot for a long time and less than exceptionoal accuracy at 25 yards unhappy... Well I don't mind paying a extra for higher quality.Last edited by J_RyanM1911; May 15th, 2012 at 04:06 AM.

Re: Need opinions for Colt Umarex .22s
Of course Cabela's has a sale on ruger 10/22's...but i'm not really a rifle person because I have bad eyesight and pistol ranges are all i can really do without a good scope... and good scopes are expensive...
I probably will get a 10-22 eventually they're not terribly expensive... plus they're really customizable...For a good time call 555-328-5323
