    Default 22lr revolver suggestions

I'm looking for a decently priced 22lr revolver for my wife to plink. We currently have an old revolver hand me down that is probably 40 years old and doesnt hit the broad side of a barn. I'm leaning towards a Taurus due to price. Anyone have any suggestions for a good 22lr revolver that wont break the bank.

NO! Not Taurus. They seem to be hit or miss LITERALLY! I have a stainless 5 inch model 92 that has been back to the factory once, and now functions as one of the best noise makers around! It scares the ground hogs silly ! Doesn't hurt them a bit though... At least it makes noise now...

Im going to disagree with you solrac7, I recently bought a Taurus model 990 and love it so far. Buds Still has them for sale. The double action trigger is a little stiff but other than that I have no complaints about the gun, I have shot almost 2 bulk federal packs through it with no issues at all. I would also recommend a Ruger single six if you dont have anything against single actions. I like my single six but I hate how long it takes to reload compared to my Taurus.

Taurus model 94 here, one heck of a plinking Gun.

The triggers are very heavy but i changed out my trigger return spring and hammer spring for a lighter Wolffe spring kit, now its light and sweet.

I have several Taurus revolvers. No problems with them.

Might I suggest something like a Ruger single six. It comes with a .22 lr cylinder and a .22 magnum cylinder.

If you can find one, check out the Ruger SP101 in .22 cal.

You could always go old school and buy a High Standard revolver. My dad has one. It's got a heavy double action trigger, but it's pretty damn accurate.

I'd look for a used S&W model 63. That or a Ruger single six.

As an owner of many Taurus revolvers, I can say that the Hit or miss comments are true. Even though I have been fortunate enough to have received excellent pistols, I have known people that have gotten a "dud". They are few and far between, though. +1 for the Model 94. It isn't as heavy as the 990. I have also used a few Heritage pistols, and aside from the dumb safety, who needs a safety on a revolver, let alone a single action, they were nice guns as well. Made in the USA to boot. Also cheaper in cost than the Taurus.

I second the Heritage Arms revolvers, I had one with the 6.5 inch bbl and both 22 and 22mag cylinders, what a blast to shoot, and in the evening when shooting 22 mags, the fire ball is fun.

They are a low cost gun that will give you years of fun plinking, they are NOT a gun that will be handed down to your great grand kids, they are a gun that YOU will have fun shooting, and the money that you save over a Taurus or a Ruger will buy you a lot of ammo.

Gunslinger.com, is the forum for Heritage guns.

I had a gun as the one described above and traded it away, I will soon be getting another one to correct that mistake, they are a fun gun.
    Government 99 and 44/100 % pure bullshit.
