Shimerville closed
I seem to be the bearer of bad news lately. Tonight I went to the indoor range at Shimerville to shoot with a group of people who work with Mrs. Plinker. We got there and there was a sign on the door that said "Closed". Thinking that perhaps the attendant had not yet arrived (this happens from time to time), we stood and waited for a bit. Finally, the man who organized the trip went looking for someone in authority. He found the son of the owner.
Apparently the owner died in April. The son said they have decided not to keep the range open. I was not clear on the reason why, but liability and expense seemed to be two words mentioned. It was not the nicest indoor range I have ever used, but it was a lot nicer than shooting in the snow and wind in the winter time.

Terrible news! I called this place home when I wasnt at Alburtis or during the colder months. It was the cheapest indoor range in the Valley as far as I know. ALL the employees were more than friendly. Many a time I wasted another 30-45min just BS-ing and hanging out. Never a big selection of rental guns, who cares, I brought my own. Never much ammo, who cares, I brought my own. Lighting wasnt the best, good, more challenging. I could smoke, priceless.
I'm really gonna miss this place. Now where the ____ am I gonna go.

Wow! This is terrible news. Like Brownman says it wasn't the best equipped place but it was very affordable and the employees were great. This really sucks! Really wish I was in a position to be able to make an offer to buy the place.

Re: Shimerville closed
An fuck!
I knew the old(not so old) man had died.
I just drove over there to shoot(two minutes from my house) and I saw the sign.
Figured I'd check here before going further, now I know.
I have(had) membership, what are their plans I wonder?
I thinks I need to go up there during the day and inquire.
As said above, now where do I shoot?
It was dark, dirty, it was perfect lol.

Re: Shimerville closed
What's your point, if any?
Yeah, I know some on this forum get all bothered that Heritage isn't free and that they allow shooters from NJ (oh, the horror).
But when someone says they have "no other choice" but to go to a facility they're obviously not happy with, I thought it would be helpful to mention another option.
back at ya.
