    Default Buying online

Can someone who has done this give me a step by step on the procedure? For instance, winning an auction at Gun Broker, out of State of course.

I know I have to go to an FFL.

Is Gander Mountain receptive to this or is the smaller private Gunshop a better choice.

The small shops have dissappeared in my area.

Best bet is to find an FFL off of Auction Arms' site. That's what I did and it really paid off. Try this:

I am pretty sure this is how it works. You buy the item from www site, pay for it. They will wait until your ffl sends them their license. When the www site gets the ffl's license then they ship it out to the ffl. The ffl will call you when it gets there, then you come in and do a background check. Then youre done.

Shop around, some FFL's charge more than others.

GunRunners of Pa has good prices for transfers. GRoPa

When I bought off of gunbroker, I went to my FFL to find out how to do the transfer before I even bid on the gun I was going to buy. They told me to bid and when I win, come in and pick up a copy of their FFL to send with the payment to the seller. (This was in Miami, FL so when the seller received my payment and FFL info, he called both of us up and let us know that the gun was being shipped out so that I could go fill out the paperwork at my FFL and start the waiting period down there). Gun came in 4 days later, I inspected it with the gunshop people on the 5th day, cleaned everything up and went out for some fun on the 6th.

GRoPA (Todd) is a member here. He'll probably chime in soon.

    1. Find a local FFL that will do transfers.
    2. Tell him what is going on
    3. If you win the bid or order from an internet seller (Bud's Guns, for example) tell the FFL where to send a copy of his license
    4. FFL will contact who he needs to to set up the shipment
    5. Gun will be shipped to FFL
    6. FFL receives gun, enters it into his bound book and informs you that it has arrived
    7. You set up a time to do the paperwork
    8. Complete paperwork, do PICS, (hopefully pass PICS ), pay FFL the agreed upon transfer fee
    9. Walk out with gun

    That's it.

Work out all the details with the sellers in advance. Some gun shop FFL's require FFL's on both ends of the transactions-even for longguns when it is not legally required. papa

There is a small gun shop in Canonsburg that handles transfers reasonably. It is called Gun Runners (do not confuse this shop with Gunrunners of PA GRoPA). Let me know if you want directions to his shop.
