He has one, the other is mine

I put 200 rounds through my new Caracal this afternoon: 0 stoppages, one fail to lock open empty, that was likely my thumb riding the slide stop a bit. Ejection was positive and I never saw a spent case except on the ground. The "straight 8" style sights took some getting used to- the last 75 rounds were by far, my best.

I'm a "less experienced" pistol shooter so I won't talk about group sizes only to say I shot this pistol better than any of the Glocks, M&P, and XD that I tested on the way to making the decision to buy a Caracal- sight unseen. With a firm grip on the gun there is noticeably less muzzle flip than I experienced with any of the above.

Ergonomics wise, I'll put the Caracal just below the PPQ and H&K P30 on my hand appeal scale. My other CF pistol is a M1911 so I naturally grip the pistol high and tight, thankfully this works well with the Caracal as the same grip with a Glock caused some nasty cuts from the slide. I had no trouble hitting the mag or slide release. For what it's worth, I'll say the Caracal slide stop is about perfect, it is small, yet, as easy to engage as it is to disengage.

The trigger break is crisp and almost as light as the the PPQ's I've handled. trigger reset is similar in to the Glock in length and feel. I tried once to consciously "catch" reset while shooting and performed a nice double tap- I continued shooting my normal follow through the rest of the way

I tip my hat to Lou and his lovely wife for ordering 2 unknown pistols when they only had a sale for one, they are fine folks.

    Jim

The reps were the only thing worth looking at in that booth.

I like them....*sigh* I knew this would happen. It seems as though Caracal improved the things i don't like about glock (rounded edges instead of squared, easier take down actuation, rounded trigger guard, lower bore axis, a little thinner). I'd love to handle one! To me, they look like promising pistols. We just need time to see aftermarket stuff and new models to come out.

Thanks, man. Too bad you're in Monroe County. Anybody in Bucks/Montco have one of these? I'd love to try it out. Maybe a bunch of us could get together and try it?

    Anyone? Bueller?

Also, OP, any chance of some pics looking down the sights?

    Thanks for the review!

Are there holsters for these things? Are they compatible with any other firearm?

I learned long ago to stay away from new models, new imports and new manufacturers.

Magazines are typically hard to get, parts if needed will be non-existent and searching through bins of used holsters to find one that will fit is not high on my list of a fun way to spend time at a show or shop.

In the video above, he says leather Glock holsters will work.

For the prices I see, I'll leave mine out there for someone else.

the mac review was scary (while verbally upbeat).

costs just as much as a glock (if not more), with less reliability. plus, i hate straight 8 sights.

as much as it wants to be a glock, multiple failures after being dropped in a mud puddle show it's still in another class.

To me, it looks a lot like the Steyr I just bought! For $419, maybe the Steyr would be a better bet until the Caracal has some track record ?
