Default BHTC LONG RANGE UKD CHALLENGE 6/9/12

Online registration is required. After the roster is full, payment instructions will be sent out.

    Details:

    location: http://mifflincosportsmens.com/

The BHTC UKD Challenge is a long range precision rifle match in which range estimation, marksmanship, and problem-solving skills are all combined to test the shooter. It is an UNKNOWN DISTANCE match. No laser rangefinders are permitted. One seen in your hands at any time is a DQ. Target height and width are provided one time, at the commencement of the match.

The scoring model is friendly to beginners, as well as rewarding the rifle-ninja for a superior performance, and keeping the scores tight at the top. You get big points for the hit, and bonus points for rounds unfired. Beginners should not hesitate to try this match.

Distances are from muzzle to 1025Y. Because of the nature of the firing positions, the short harris bipod is strongly discouraged.

Targets will include paper, reactive polymer and steel.

Expect some things that have never been done before.

    Match fee is $75.00.

There is a prize table with a grand prize of an AR upper and lower from Defiance Machines, and a Recon 15x50 spotting scope from our friends at Vortex Optics.

Bunking at the clubhouse (byo cot & bag) are $10. The club also serves breakfast and lunch for $7.50 per meal. It is excellent home-cooked food. The firing line is covered/shaded in most cases.

Any thoughts of accommodating DMRs or Irons at full size steel out to 600 yards or so?
Because I can't fit Catman in my pocket.

Shooters bring DMR guns all the time.

They shoot the same CoF as the precision shooters but are scored in their own class. A DMR for this purpose is a .223 semi auto that is scoped and shooting accurate ammo.

think you guys might ever have a longer(er) distance irons only match?

i think it would be alot of fun, and an excuse to get the garand out

why not run the course iwth the scoped guys? I mean if its just for fun you already understand that you are going to be the ugly duckling so to speak without the optics mounted.

I would have no problem with that as long as the shooter knew their rifle's dope at those distances and could safely keep 'em all in the impact berm.

Definitely break a separate class off for any shooter wishing to do so. Maybe it would catch on!

I sought interest in a battle rifle match a while ago and didn't get but a couple bites.

maybe i'm old fashioned, but i just really like using iron sights.

sure i put one of those crazy red dots on my carbine, but i turn it off often and use the irons. if there was a contingent of iron sighted fellows, i'd be happy to shoot either my carbine, garand, or any other iron sighted rifle

Despite the possibility I'm going to be making a whole bunch of puffs of dirt around the targets at $1 a pop, I'm really looking forward to this one.
