FTF Question
So I bought a Star BM9 a while back, one of the Spanish Guardia ones. The issue I am having is about one round per magazine fails to feed, usually the secong or third round. Always the same, slide locks back, the new round just sits in the mag. and it won't strip and load. My thoughts were worn spring in the mag so I took it apart, stretched it out a bit but same issue. Is there anything else it could be besides the magazine ? I thought if the round didn't eject, then could be an issue with gun , ejector, etc., but with the round just not being stripped, only thing I can think of is bad/worn magazine ?

Re: FTF Question
Tight spot/dent in the magazine catching the follower?

Re: FTF Question
Could be a whole host of issues but if its consistent with a round count I'd look at your magazines first.

Re: FTF Question
I'd say replacing the recoil spring would be my #2 thought but I can't see where the recoil spring would cause a FTF on a specific round in the mag each time.
Do you see anything off on or around the feed ramp where a round could be getting hung up upon feeding?
These are my favorite springs... http://www.gunsprings.com/

Re: FTF Question
Check your slide stop and see if there is any evidence of the round bumping it up and activating it, if the rounds are bumping it, you can sand it as needed.
Good Luck

Re: FTF Question
Agreed, good call, and what I meant (and should have explained better) by a dent or tight spot catching the follower; it happens at pretty much the same set of circumstances, so I figure a "dent" or tight spot is perhaps pushing the round toward the slide stop tab, and this is locking the slide to the rear. As I recall, the follower on these mags is rather large, with a lot of bearing surface.

Re: FTF Question
Thanks all. Will be checking everything out when I clean the gun later after today's range trip. Just ordered a new magazine and recoil spring too I really like the gun, just need to make it 100% reliable!
