    Default Trouble cleaning Walther P22

I just got a Walther P22 and wanted to run a 22 bore snake through it before going to shoot it tomorrow. Trouble is the bore snake seems extremely tight and I afraid of pulling it too hard. I have a ruger SR22 and the snake works fine. I also use the snake on my Henry golden boy rifle. What's up with that? Why won't it fit the P22?

If it's a .22 caliber snake, it will fit whether it's designed for rifle or pistol. I wrap the end of the cord around my hand a couple of times, because it does require a pretty good tug. Make sure it has cleaner or lube on it. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure it's just a reflection of the flash in the barrel. It looks empty when I blow it up.

LOL, That is just the reflected flash. I will try the snake again after I take it to the range today. I told my wife my bore snake was too big and she just shook her head.

Put 160 rounds through it today. The bore snake is a NO-GO. Used a rod with brush & patches to clean it. More than one way to skin a cat.

Try holding the gun so the barrel is vertical. Once the tip is in the barrel tap the slide/barrel repeatedly. It will aid gravity. It will make it down there in a minute. That is the only way I can get mine through on my S&W 22A 5". Hope it helps.

i usually tear mine down. i put the barrel in a vice, it does not move that way. was never a big fan of cleaning from the crown end of the barrel. to each his own i guess.
