The PD will not give it back w/o a fight.
You will need an attorney who knows how to play the game to get it back.
So you will spend thousands for this firearm.
Is it worth that?
Sounds to me it would be worth stop thinking about that one and just purchase another.
And don't loan it out.
That is a disaster waiting to happen - for you.
If someone needs one for home protection advise them there are some less expensive models out there.
Or put better locks on doors.
Or move!
But don't just go handing out your hand guns.

If I loaned a handgun to one of my friends I think I'd have a better chance of winning Power Ball than having this happen. And I don't even play Power Ball.

Call me silly....couple things come to mind (I watch too much Investigative stuff)
1. Your friend killed the guy and put the KelTec in his hand.
Even if it was worth pursuing, I'd want no part of a gun used in a crime or that was witness to murder be it mine or not.
