Coyote hunting

Im looking for some strategies for hunting coyotes in my area.

go buy a electronic caller, a high power infared spotlight.
go out to a feild or area that you think they are runnin through, turn on the caller, you will hear them start howling back at the caller, when ya hear them commin get out the infared spot light to find them ,wait til the get in ranger and shoot away.

they cant see the light from the infared spot light, they make other types of callers but the electronic seem to work the best im my experence.

yeah sounds like he's along a cow pasture pretty good vid.
when i go i go at night and use the infared light with the caller, its easier and i seem to have more success then scouting around for a few days to find them and just sitting in camo waiting for them to run by

I think the camera guy is also working the electronic caller. Just before he pulls the trigger, you can hear what sounds like a rabbit distress call workin'.

shoot them from a chairlift, just kidding, last week I was vacationing in Deep Creek Md, wife & I riding up chairlift and watched a Coyote sneak up on a Groundhog and kill it. pure nature, neat

My experience is to find an area with abundant prey for the coyotes, (rabbits, mice, woodchuck and fawns are great examples.) Find a good place to set up, tree stands are great if you have the option.

Wear as much camo as you can if your hunting in the light cover all skin as the Coyotes see light reflect off it. Line of sight should be down wind from yourself, and some say use scent covering however I've not noticed much difference with or without personally.

Once set up give about 20 - 30 min "cool down" period as your arrival will have been noticed by anything close by, and then start calling with your call of choice. I use an electronic call that cost about $25, and has 5 different calls. Any rabbit distress will be sufficient if you know how to use it. The electronic is pretty fail safe though.

You'll notice fairly quickly if they are around, as others have said night hunting is the most effective, use a red spot light, or if you have them night vision to spot and a regular gun mounted light to light them up for the shot. Red lights work better because the coyotes don't see it, and you can take better shots.

Have fun, and kill as many as you can to protect the deer herd, todays fawn is tomorrows trophy buck.
