Re: Need range recommendations
Pistol People is the best range by far. Steve and Jerry are extremely nice and will actually give you a free lesson. They watch the shooters and help you with tips on how to improve. They will charge separately for adults however. They have a membership which allows $10 guests. Closed on Sundays.
The other good range is Ready Aim Fire in Bristol. Also very nice people. If you bring a minor to shoot with you they won't charge for them as long as they're in the same stall. Adults will be charged separately $20. They are open on Sundays.
Assume every range will be crowded on weekends unless you go very early in the morning.

Re: Need range recommendations
I travel a little bit but if you don't mind going to bucks county, I am a member of Langhorne Rod and Gun Club.
It's $150 per year, but you use your own ammo and open 7 days a week, only closed on Mother's Day and easter.
$150 a year seems like a lot, but when you consider I go there all the time and NEVER once have had to wait for a lane. Just go and shoot. Most of the time im either by myself with nobody else on the property or there are 2 to 3 other people there.
Its a great club if you can get in. if you want to check it out let me know we can head up there and shoot sometime.

Re: Need range recommendations
I live pretty close to DA, went there once and was not happy with the ammo prices and policy of shooting their ammo only. I'm not interested in a policy that changes with the winds, or does not apply to preferred guests, they also don't allow cardboard backers but you walk by a box of them on your way in so I'm sure preferred customers use them. Even though DA is so close, I opted for membership at TargetMaster in Chadds Ford. You might read some stuff about rude people or huge crowds but I have never experienced any of it. They have multiple membership options, you can bring your own ammo, you can rapid fire, and even draw from the holster if you just mention it to the R.O. first. They have a lot of products in the store, everyone I've dealt with has been very nice, especially the new girl there who is a sweetheart. Their ammo is fairly priced, good rental options, clean place. I really enjoy shooting there and would definitely recommend it.

Delaware Valley sports Center. They are in north east phialdelphia about 15 from classic pistol. They will let you rapid fire and if your a member your guests range pass is only 10 for the day. They will let you shoot your own ammo. Rifle calibers must be frangible.

Re: Need range recommendations
i am sort of in the same boat. i was a member at SPAG but between the act 235 and maintenance they are rarely opened when i like to go. ammo prices shot from $12 to $28 at one point for 9mm and i just lost interest.
firingline never has the ammo for the pistol i'm shooting that day.
i have been to holmesburg and the 25 yd only for pistol is kinda tough with a glock 27.
langhorne rod and gun is by far my favorite, i have an uncle who is a current member but we rarely find time for us both to be available for a full day. pistol has different distances, rifle goes to 200 yds, trap shooting and even an archery range. the $150 isn't bad for the year but they do require 8 hrs of community service and i believe an additional $150 for the application fee.
i think i will join targetmaster this year. ammo prices are fair, staff has been cool to me (i did see someone attempt a straw purchase there once. the staff basically told them to leave immediately and i was pleased to see them go) they have full auto rentals as well.
i do prefer to shoot on weekdays in the early afternoon because i work nights so crowds aren't really an issue for me.Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

Re: Need range recommendations
Another +1 for Classic Pistol, you only have to buy their ammo if you are renting a gun. They always have a huge selection of guns, and normally have 3-5 guys working the counter that always seem very knowledgeable.
