Weird question for you about car registration
For whatever reason, I have a car that needs to be inspected in FL and has FL plates. So, is there anyway possible to get it certified inspected for Florida while not having to drive there? Because as it stands now I would have to drive all the way there and all the way back for a measly inspection. Nevermind the reason this is the case, but I would love to here any possibilities of getting this done in PA somehow. Maybe a PA FL inspection reciprocity...

Re: Weird question for you about car registration
Registration? Maybe you can renew over the Internet.. you can in PA for PA registration.
Inspection? Negative.

Re: Weird question for you about car registration
I don't know your circumstances, but the first thought that I have is this:
It seems as though it would be a lot less expensive and a lot less time consuming to get the car registered in Pa. then get it inspected here.
More information about your specific situation would most likely result in better advice.

Re: Weird question for you about car registration
Where in Florida is this car registered?
I've had cars registered in both Seminole and Volusia counties and never had to have them inspected - save for having the tag agency do a VIN check to make sure the car was what I claimed it was...
The short answer is just take a road trip to Florida and take care of it... A longer answer is - if the car is in PA and has valid tags (as in they aren't expired) just leave it be - cops here don't care any more about current out of state inspection then the cops in Florida cared aobut my PA inspection being out of date.Last edited by lildobe; February 17th, 2008 at 07:57 PM.

Re: Weird question for you about car registration
if it has a FL inspection, it needs to go to FL to get a FL sticker...unless you're in with a mech that would just send you a sticker
otherwise get a PA reg and have it inspected here.it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: Weird question for you about car registration
Do you live in a FL county that has emissions? If you do you can go to a PA inspection station and have the emission test run to show it passes and sensd that info to FL so they can issue stickers. I believe they mail them to you up here in PA if you show the emissions passed.

Re: Weird question for you about car registration
Unless FL re-enacted safety inspections in the last 8 years, theres nothing of the sort.
If its a emissions inspection - you are SOL. FL's emissions inspections are "online" and linked directly to your vehicle registration. A PA test isn't valid in FL due to the testing standards and criteria, also because of the results not being returned directly to the FL DMV.
FL did have a 10 or 30 day waiver of the emissions for those out of state - which they may still have.
Other than that, enjoy your drive to FL.. You could register it here in PA too to avoid the drive. But it'd need to be safety inspected and emissions in certain areas.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: Weird question for you about car registration
Go to the Florida Dept of Transportation web site and see if they have a FAQ section, or an outline of the basic laws and requirements. If you don't find your answer there you will surely find an email address and phone number. I can't guarantee that they will actually give you accurate information, but they should. It's better to get it directly from them than to trust hearsay, guesses, and secondhand advice from people you don't really know.
Let us know what the correct answer is.
