not long ago, psp was trying to force ffls to run ar15 receivers and rifles as if they were handguns... so it's likely that a lot of ar15s made it into the registry. err, "database."

I gather that stopped once someone opened up their Pennsylvania Crimes Code?

The "database" is only for "firearms". A "firearm" in PA only includes handguns with barrels less than 15", SBS's, and SBR's.

The "database" is compiled from the SP4-113 forms - which you do not fill out for long guns.

For a gun to show up as stolen, it has to be added to the federal NCIC database.

The PSP stopped after many dealers and citizens griped loud enough for the PSP to respond. The PSP then deferred judgement to the ATF - which the ATF said that the dealers and citizens were correct.
