Default Birchwood Casey Double Mag Spinner Steel Target... Abused

So I bought one of these today, mostly because I had cash burning a hole in my pocket.

I paid $34.99. You get the idea, simple spinner target, supposedly rated for centerfire handguns up to .44 magnum. It's a pretty heavy piece of steel, but for the price I was a bit dubious. I figured I'd beat on it and see how it went.

After fifty or so rounds with the shotgun (nothing dangerous) and a hundred rounds of 9mm and .40s&w I'm happy to report just about zero appreciable damage. I mean, we blasted just about every speck of black paint off the front of the thing, but aside from that, the worst damage was probably on the frame from me using a hammer to bang it into the ground. No craters of any kind from the pistol rounds, nothing. I'm pretty pleased.

I'll try to get some better pictures, before and after, I'll probably go out and shoot it again Friday. So far I can definitely say $35 well spent. It's not a dueling tree or a plate rack or a Texas Star or anything fancy, but not a bad little target for cheap.

I initially thought you "after" photos would show a mangled spinner. It looks like $36 that were well spent. So much fun for so little cost!

That's pretty cool! Wonder how it would hold up to something like a 5.56 or .308...

Depending on the range, 5.56 or 7.62x51 will go through that like crap through a goose!!

Yup. I have no intention of shooting it with a rifle. I just want to test its durability reasonably.
