Ruined Youth Turkey Hunt
Ruined Youth Turkey Hunt
I have been waiting for my nephew to turn 12 so we could hit the wood a week early and get him a bird. We got up and went to my favorite State Gamelands. At first light some birds were gobbling up hill from us I tried to get them to come down but they went right so we moved. Just out the trail I heard some turkey noises just below us so I picked out the biggest tree, it had a nice big flat rock and a couple of sticks there so we set up. After 15 minutes of calling the gobbles were getting closer. A hen came up the rise and was acting as a expert guest caller/decoy. The gobblers we still over the rise when a guy runs in with his dog and start yelling at us for being in his spot. He even had the nerve of accusing us that we were going to steal his trail camera! I noticed it, but could have cared less because the turkeys were coming. He tied his dog to a tree and got it barking while he sat there looking at his trail cam. We tried to go down the hill but he ruined the hunt. We tried elsewhere but I was too pissed to be very effective and didn’t want to show my nephew how to be a bigger…
I think I should have called the Game Commission. Interfering with a lawful hunt?

Yes, call them. While I disagree with interpretting the law like this, leaving movable property on game lands is technically littering, maybe a WCO will use discretion and confiscate the camera, then he can talk to a WCO if he wants it back.

Even better, take a picture of your ass and hang it infront of his camera. Everytime the wind blows it will set off the camera. 600 pictures of your ass should make him re-think his people skills...

and what a great image to present to a new hunter. Better you than I. As far as I'm concerned he doesnt own the game lands he can go fuck himself. I would have had some fun with the game camera after that.

Wow, I would be angry too, how does the little man feel? I hope it didn't ruin his excitement to go hunting. Shaking my head.. some people are so selfish

Call your local WCO, That guy was interfering with your hunt which is illegal.

Re: Ruined Youth Turkey Hunt
Once he left I think I might have "found" myself presented with a perfect shot, probably two, on a turkey sitting right in front of his trail cam. Needless to say I might let one or two of those shot fly a little high by accident.
Now before anyone says that I would be doing a diservice in teaching my nephew such bad manners, I would say to them I would do it when he wasnt looking.
