They usually last until you shoot yourself in the leg and opt for a safer gun.
Couldn't resist feeding the debate!

I thought they lasted forever.
I have a Gen 2, G17 that has been flawless and shows no signs of stopping. The original mags are still kept in the rotation with a few newer ones. They work just fine.

Re: How long does a Glock last ?
In 9mm, darn near forever with regular maintenance/spring changes, etc. In .40 and on the Gen2/3 models with 3 pins, I've found 60k is the retirement point even with regular maintenance in some cases. My dad and I wore out a Gen2 around that point, even with regular spring changes and a full parts overhaul on several occasions. Glock inspected and declared the frame to be "out of proper operating spec" Their tech basically said the frame was worn out at that point, likely from flexing and just general fatigue.
I've also seen several dept issued weapons with issues who had log books upwards of 40/50k.
Now the .40 in the Gen4 models really seems to shine and should resolve some of the real world issues with the .40 caliber weapons, and make them much more durable.

Bought a G21 new around 94, never one issue with it, it's the most reliable handgun I ever purchased, even with shooting easily 10,000 lead cast reloads through it on top of the thousands of fmj's.
