A friend called me when a SR1911 became available at a LGS.
The store wanted 800 and change. As much as I want one I wouldn't pay 800+ for a gun that, once manufacturing is all caught up, should be available for around $650.
I guess I don't fault the store for getting as much as they can for it, business is business, but it's a game I don't want to play.

I'm not saying the op of this ad is out of line, as they may have this much in it, but are dealers jacking the price up this much ? I have had a chance at one or two at msrp pricing, but if a dealer I frequented upped the price like this I think I'd cease to be a customer. Again, curious not critical.
456 - I'd say out and out Robbery but he working on supply and demand theroy. I wouldn't pay that much for it bc I bought mines for $625 so I think $900 is way too much for this really nice 1911. But $900 is more than I paid for my S&W E Series and it is a better version of the 1911 in everyway then the SR1911 which is a very good $590-$650 gun fair price.

It's all basic supply and demand, and with SR1911's in short supply he may get that price. I wouldn't pay that much but there might be someone out there who will. If not, it won't sell. Time will tell........

I saw the one you're referring to. Maybe he got it when it first came out and was hard to get, and in turn took a financial hit. Maybe now he is just trying to recoup some of his investment. Who knows. If you don't like the price don't buy it, I wouldn't.

There is no such thing as an unfair price unless someone is forcing you to buy something - like insurance for example. But if someone wants to take their Hi Point 9mm pistol and list it for $10,000, what is that to anyone here? No one has to buy it unless they want it that badly. The gun is listed for a price and the seller is not willing to negotiate that. That is his choice. If he does not sell it in the time frame he desires, he may change his mind, but again that is his choice. No one is required to buy this gun for anything that I know of, regardless of how badly they might want one.

Thread closed since this is pretty much commentary on a classified ad on the board.
