    Default Taurus PT1911 First Shots

So I got my Taurus PT1911 yesterday and went to the range today. Put 250 rounds down range and was almost flawless. I had 1 FTFeed and 1 FTE. The FTF was an ammo problem and I suspect the FTE was as well.

I was shooting Blazer Clean Fire for most of the day and then ran a box of Tula. The Blazer was nice. It really is "clean fire". There was very little powder around the muzzle. When I switched to the Tula, you could see the difference.

I made a short video. In it you can see the Blazer round that FTF'd

My boyfriend says: "Buy new magazines, because the factory ones are shit."

He has over a dozen mags for his Taurus, but never uses the factory ones.

Actually working on that. The factory mags weren't too bad. they ran flawlessly, just 2 bad rounds.

I was thinking of picking one up. Anything other than the mags being crap worth knowing about?

That was the exact OPPOSITE experience I had with my PT1911. It was an awesome gun while I had it, but the factory mags were the only 8 rounders that would feed HP's reliably. I tried 4 of the most popular brands of 8 rounders before learning that factory is best with the PT1911.

Huh... I have 4 mags for my PT1911 and the only one that gives it fits is the Wilson mag. The other three are Taurus.

Got 4 PT 1911's in .45 and one in 9mm. Every mag has worked perfectly and the trunkload of Taurus factory mags I bought extra all work perfectly, as well. Taurus 1911's are not mil spec, so I want the mags for it that are designed for it. A lot of people blame the mag for a problem that isn't a mag problem, but to each his own.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

My boyfriend uses Novaks, Mecgars, and a few others I don't the names of. He uses the factory mags at the range, but not for carry.
