Two Colt Series 70s, 33 years apart though!
I finally picked up my second blued S70 but it is my first original. It was made in 1978 and is a Michigan State Police 60th Aniversary Comemorative and if it shoots anything like my 2011 S70 I will be ecstatic! I am generally not a fan of engraved guns but I could not pass on the price. Plus it doesn't have any of the gawdy gold/silver inlays. (not that there is anything wrong with that, it's just not my cup of tea) Anyway, enough of my talking, here it is and there is a pic of both pistols together also:

An excellent brace of pistols! Old and new, both fine examples of a timeless design. I too own a Series 70 and carry it frequently. Nothing finer for a serious social-encounter.
Again, excellent!

Very nice let us know how she treats you after all these years, I'd definitely read a range report on that.

Anicent looking but beautiful in their own right. You have agreat collectioin of original looking Colt S70 1911s they are the cream of the crop when it comes to most wanted style 1911s. Accept for the real old ones that cost boocoo money.
Nice collection!

Re: Two Colt Series 70s, 33 years apart though!
Thanks for all the kind words! My 2011 S70 is my edc pistol as well as the the roscoe I use for both my executive protection job and IDPA matches. So I can't explain how much respect I have for the series 70 platform.
I got a quick chance to throw a box of 50 remmington 230 grain RN through the "new" 1978 commemorative today. To no surprise, it functioned smooth and flawless. It has a VERY crisp trigger break! Actually it is slightly more crisp than my carry gun. It also has much smaller sights. Not GI 1911 small but close. And unfortunately I was only able to shoot steel targets in the limited range time I had today, so I wasn't able to get an idea as to how it groups. Sunday I plan to put it through it's paces with some paper. Overall I am very very pleased with this purchase.
