depends on what choke you have. I won't shoot slugs out of anything but a cyl choke.

Shoot rifled foster slugs and you will be fine.

Slugs will be fine in the 870. Any choke will function but the more open it is the better they usually shoot. Before the days of the enlightenment of the Internet we just used what ever shotgun we had. Never heard of any problems from guns that were safe for smokeless loads.

Brenneke slugs are far superior (much, much greater sectional density and penetration) to "Foster rifled slugs" and should give good accuracy in your Remington.

I have been wondering this as well, picked up an 870 wingmaster(mod barrel) a month or so ago and wanted to start researching slugs. I will check out the Foster rifled and Brenneke slugs, thanks guys.

+1 about the Brenneke slugs. The 2 3/4" Black Magic are top shelf. They do cost more than more standard rifled slugs like the Remington Sluggers or Winchester Super X but work even better in my guns than the "punkin' balls".
