Call me paranoid... it's the end of the 80's again
The PA kid, the Cleveland school shooter, the Cincy school shooter - plus wasn't there a few other multi-vic shootings or attempted shootings recently??
I'm telling you - we're going to see another Stocton or Columbine within the next 6 months - garuntee it.
For some strange phenomenon, anytime a high-stakes election approaches, gun-crime goes up. Its almost as if the anti-gunners are encouraging or otherwise paying nutcases off, so as to go commit gun crimes.
Bush will be forced to knee-jerk react - just as his daddy did - and impose some kind of ban - so as to prove the Repubs are really tough on crime.
OR
For just as certain, the Dems will enact such laws once Hill-bama gets in the big house.
Its all quite scary.

At this point I think Bush is giving the big middle finger to the Republican party, he doesn't care, he is outta there. If he cared what the party "looked like" he wouldn't have done half the stuff he has.

Thats exactly what happens when theres another election coming abouts.. I dont think its the anti-gunners paying people to go shoot up the place - however we'll all pay the price for it. The only thing bans and gun control have proven is it makes defenseless victims.
There will a new government before they can strip the people of their arms, seeing how thats the reason our Constitution protects our right to have them. ...To rid ourselves of a tyrannical government.
Theres a case coming before the US Supreme Court that will rid this country of many gun laws in the next few months or year.
As bad as Bush is, this country would have been a hellava lot worse off if we had gotten Gore or Kerry in. ...being the lessor of two evils at each respected election. This next election isn't much better either, none of them can be trusted with protecting our rights.. all of them want to make this country into a socialistic state versus our republic that we have today.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

I hope you're right. What if? What it would take to overthrow the government is widespread, armed, organized resistance. In the civil war, the Confederate states raised their militias and took on the Federal government. The military, the people and their representatives split according to regional or political affiliation, and took both sides. You can argue such a rebellion is illegal by nature; but it is the natural right of the people to rebel, as witnessed by our own American Revolution.
One hopes our civil war remains for ever after the epitome of rebellion in the United States. General Lee gave up the fight at Appomattox and his loyal troops in overwhelming numbers took their small arms and went home. A new rebellion would be a very bloody and disorganized affair, indeed, featuring insurgency and outlawry as we see today in Iraq, without much central control, loyalty to principle, respect for authority, and probably without end. Don't really want that.
If the government has a problem with an armed populace, they should. The plain fact remains that disarming the people is much in the interest of the powers that be, to maintain their power. But it doesn't make for safer streets and it's a consitutional mistake that can be resisted now and in the future without resorting to killin'.
That should be the model for young people: adult citizens may have arms, but stop the killin' for god's sake. It's not the wild west, if there ever was such a thing, and the people are not up in arms as yet. Killin' just makes you a criminal.Last edited by novice; October 14th, 2007 at 05:57 AM.

When an "arsenal" now consists, of 30 +/- Airsoft pellet guns - not EVEN BB guns, which can at least leave a welt, or put an eye out, you KNOW the media is coming at US, with all of their... ahem... 'guns blazing,' this next election...

the democrats don't need high profile gun crime to get themselves elected in 2008. The republicans already fucked themselves with the war.

Re: DC v Heller
DC v Heller is before the Supreme Court this term. There's a thread about it here:
Parker v DC
It's an appeal of the court ruling that threw out DC's laws against handguns in the District on Second Amendment grounds.Last edited by novice; October 15th, 2007 at 12:38 AM. Reason: 2A
