Question about Beretta Model 71 .22 cal Value/Collectability
I just picked up a very lightly used but dirty and has some small rust spots but nothing a good detailed cleaning cant fix, model 71 Beretta .22. I think the year is 1967 and its from Italy. It has two barrels. one thats under 4" and the other looks to be around 6" I know nothing about this handgun but I got it for $100 which I thought was a good deal.
Last night I went online and seen that the exact model I have with the same barrels just sold on guns of america for just under $800. I then see other ones the sold for around $300 but those only had the smaller barrel.
Did I buy a rather collectable/valuable .22 or is it only worth around $300
If someone knows about these and you need more info to tell me about it just ask Ill Ill tell ya what ya need.
thanks alot guys/gald
Happy Easter!

Re: Question about Beretta Model 71 .22 cal Value/Collectability
Collectible or not I'd say you got a great deal.
I can't say what it's worth but I feel confident it's worth more than $300 with the two barrels. You might want to post over at Beretta Forum to find out more specifics about your gun.
BTW, congrats on a great grab. I love the 70 series.

Re: Question about Beretta Model 71 .22 cal Value/Collectability
thanks for reassuring me that I did get a really good deal, this never happens to me ever, its usually "wow Bill, you paid 20% more then you should have" so this is a good feeling and its a really nice little .22 Im looking forward to getting it cleaned up and putting some rounds through it. It hasnt been shot or even touched in at least 30yrs so its really tight and dirty right now and I wanna really inspect it before I shjot it. I dont have a manual and the one I found is in Italian and I need a maual to detail strip it correctly. thanks again for the kind words!

I have done some research on this gun because it's on my wish list. Here are some good links for ya:
Beretta 70 Series English manual
70 series field strip video
a few replacement parts if needed
Let us know how it shoots once you get it cleaned up.

Re: Question about Beretta Model 71 .22 cal Value/Collectability
I bought a Model 71 in the mid Eighties, two barrels / two mags for $270.00. So considering your purchase price / current value, Ya Did Good ! It's a fun little pistol, and pretty accurate too.

Re: Question about Beretta Model 71 .22 cal Value/Collectability
It seems you have a model 72, a 71 sold in a kit with a set of barrels, one 3.5", the other 5.9".
The Book of the Knowledge of Good and Evil sayeth;
NIB, $425
Exc, $400
VG, $300
Good, $200
Fair, $145
Poor, $75
So, nothing collectible, you paid a pretty fair price, and that guy on Guns of America must have been selling solid gold .22 ammo with the gun.Last edited by rwb1500; April 9th, 2012 at 04:39 PM.

The 70/71 models were the ones use by the Mossad.

Old post, but since I just got my second M71 I thought I'd post.
A decent shape M71 with long and short barrels is easily worth $500. They are awesome .22 autos and I would happily grab another for double what you paid.
Enjoy.
