    Default Snubby Challenge

I like the idea of a subforum for online competitions so I will contribute one.

This is a competition we ran on the Georgia Forum last year. It's for 5 shot snub nose revolvers.

I call the drill 5^5 for short. The ability to put 5 shots in 5 inches at 5 yards in 5 seconds 5 times in a row. The idea came from Gila Hayes' excellent book Effective Defense The Woman, The Plan, The Gun. It's not terribly hard with a service pistol but it can be difficult with a snub.

No called flyers. Every shot is for record, even if you have a flinch, sneeze, etc. You have to shoot in double-action mode. The gun can be DA/SA, but for this challenge don't thumb-cock the hammer. Range ammo is OK. It doesn't have to be full-power defensive ammo. Wadcutters, FMJ, all-lead round nose, whatever.

I made a template 5 inches in diameter with a 1 inch hole in the center and then spray painted 6 targets on the back of a paper silhouette target. You could use a CD also, which is 4 3/4 inches in diameter. The first target is to confirm your zero and the others are shot for record.

You can time it with a shot timer like I did or have someone measure you, as 5 second PAR time, with a stop watch.

I would probably give this a try but I don't have any snubby revolvers..

I still may try it with my 4" sometime though..

Not per se. But the drill did make it into Concealed Carry Magazine. https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/ccm...the-month/5-5/

Given the low level of activity in this forum I consider all challenges as open forever.

I dont know why I had it in my head that it was one target for sight in and 4 for score. I think I threw away the sight in target.
No matter, there is no way I will do better than this.

This was with a S&W 638-3 using my own 158gr Semi Wad Cutter reloads.
The rings are traced from an old CD.
