Re: Is it worth reloading 9mm yet?
Well, I moved int reloading many years ago because I could not find the calibres I wanted (380/200 the UK Army load for the Enfield No 2; 0.455 for the Webley MKVI). Then I started on the regular calibres and like topsy, it just "grewed!!" However, as mentioned earlier, you do not reload to save money because you will always buy another pistol, revolver or rifle (because you have the necessary to reload). But, your reloads will be consistent and you will either enjoy the time or buy what you can commercially and moan about the costs or difficulties involved in locating ammo. So reload and enjoy! Re: Is it worth reloading 9mm yet?
Check out this web site:
http://handloads.com/calc/loadingCosts.asp
You plug in the cost of brass, primers, powder and gr of powder per rd and it gives you the cost per box.
9mm 115 gr FMJ from Precision Delta ($68/1000 with free shipping), Federal primers (From my local top secret source $33/1000, and Titegroup powder( $12/lb from my local top secret source) cost me $5.45/box.
.45 230 gr FMJ from PD ($114/1k free shipping), Federal Primers and Titegroup powder cost me $7.69/box.
So right now I'm making 9mm for about 1/2 price and .45 for 1/3 the price it's selling in the stores.Any vote for a third party is a vote for a Democrat. You are the enemy.

Re: Is it worth reloading 9mm yet?
[QUOTE=Kaos;1043333]Yes, ran across it on a 9mm search, seems some things never go out of style.
Thought after 3 years the argument was still relevant. also thought the old prices were an eye opener.
Would have been nice to put some 9mm at that price into my ammo cabinet.
Will need to make sure I update the original date of the Post next time,
Thanks,
Eddie O

Re: Is it worth reloading 9mm yet?
Hey all,
Im digging this one up again, I just calculated a load for my new 9mm, Cabelas prices.
I came up with 10.84 per 50 round box, this is without the cost of brass.
I can pick a box up at my local Cabelas for 14.00.
Not a big savings, but I enjoy reloading my own.

Re: Is it worth reloading 9mm yet?
Holy shit! You've gotta stop shopping at Cabelas then! My cost is $5.41 per 50 round box (without the cost of brass). I buy primers in bulk (5-10k at a time) wherever I can find them at a good price. I average $30/1000. I use Bullseye powder (4.2 gr) that I get at my local shop for $16.99/lb. I get my bullets from Precision Delta. 115 FMJ for $68/1000. I use this Handloading Cost Calculator instead of punching the numbers on a calculator.

Re: Is it worth reloading 9mm yet?
There's NEVER been a time when it wasn't worth it for me to reload any cartridge that I shoot more than occasionally.
There's NOTHING I'd shoot through any quality handgun that's EVER going to be cheaper than my lead bullet handloads.
My first Dillon 550 paid for itself within weeks, just on the 9x19mm that a friend and I put through my Browning High Power and his Glock 17. And that was in the late '80s, early '90s.Je suis Charles Martel.

By 2020 we will be able to go back and replace 9mm with .22LR and the same prices will apply.
