I just put a deposit on one (yes, on a list). Couldn't pass it up for $619.00. Some dealers lists seem to move much faster than others.

Why they do this I don't know, but I've know guys like this since high school, they just have to try to one up you by saying they got some kind of screaming deal.
I only do that when I'm talking to my wife.

This. My wife would die of sticker shock if she actually went shopping with me.

456 - See if you wait and get on the list you can still find one for a pretty good price. Congradulation!!!! That is a good price for one. SR1911 is a fine pistol for the money.

I just wandered over to my LGS on my lunch break and found an SR1911 in stock for $599. Couldn't pass up the deal and put $100 down on it......figured it will make a nice Christmas present to myself. My wife will not be happy if she finds out.....since i just got a Springfield XDs 3 weeks ago......

Hope this gun is as nice as people say it is. It is (or will be) my first 1911.

That is a very reasonable price for a new one, looks like you have a decent dealer nearby.
I'm not really into the cast frame but there don't seem to be that many complaints about the flaws some are finding.

I'm going with a Remington 1911 for my next one for what it's worth, if anything.

Paid $689 for mine. Maybe not the best deal but it was available so I bought it.

Dealer cost is under $550 on these if anyone is looking for one, you can decide how much profit it is worth.

Even the Ruger rep when they were at Grices in Clearfield had two available and they were pricing them at $749.
I just laughed as I walked by.
