Going by this poll it seems unlikely that some bought there SR1911 for $525 but I've heard of at least 2 people on this forum. And at least 2 people around my city saying they got in on Rugers' inital promotion where they were advertsing the pistol between $500-$600 to me thats a big jump $100 before I set eye on it.

After handling it and shoot it $600+ dollars is a great price and seems to be the non gouging price for the gun. To me it's one of the best $625 that I've spend. It cost near the same as my Kimber bought in 1998 I thought it was bought in near 80s but I just looked at the reciept recently. The Kimber is a basic model full featured but unmarked sights. I thought was great deal back then.

The SR1911 was cheaper and except for the Kimbers forged slide and frame the Ruger in 2012 has better parts its all metal whereas the Kimber has a polymer mainspring housing. They shoot the same.

Paid 649 (as part of a multiple gun sale) for mine, saw them at Grice's this weekend (that means they're in stock) for 749. I'd pay up to 700 for one...knowing I was paying a pretty steep premium.

Friend of mine ordered one for $615.

I stopped at the same shop last night to drop my SIG off for a site replacement and it had just come in, MAN are they pretty.

This thread makes me realize that I paid too much for my SR1911. I paid $680. I think it was $725 out the door. I really wanted it though and it is my first 1911 so I'm not disappointed.

I wanted it to be my first 1911, but not for $800. Guess I'll just wait.

456 - I thought that this thread stated that $600-$700 was a good price for one of the most wanted 1911s since the Colt series 70. $680 is not a bad price for it. You could have gotten it cheaper but probably woudl have been on the list longer like I was andd just by chanced jumped over a guy being there when one came in.

I'd like to see the sales slip if someone is saying they paid $525, that's below dealer cost.

What is between $500 and $600 even mean?

    $550?

Sorry, I know lots of guys that will lower the price they paid for a gun, a car, a house, etc... when they are telling the story.
Why they do this I don't know, but I've know guys like this since high school, they just have to try to one up you by saying they got some kind of screaming deal.
