Re: Ruger SR1911 Pricing
The reason Ruger is backed up is because of Bill Ruger taking a financial beating on his ill fated Hawkeye pistol years ago.
Ever since, Ruger's policy has been to only make enough firearms as they have orders for.
This time they screwed it big time and the consumer is the one paying for it, literally.

456 - I think thats what it is my gun was quoted at 1st by the store clerk $525 then $625 by store owner as he called the guy ahead of me on there list and he wasn't there. There was no real firguring of taxes I assume everything was built in the total he sold it to me. I wanted one and even $625 sounded good, $525 would have been better. I guess they have to make some money.
I don't think I would have paid $750 or $800 for one. I have my limits.

Re: Ruger SR1911 Pricing
You are fortunate you got one at the not so, mad f... price that they will be before it is over with. Had I been able to find one here at a good price, I'd have gotten one for my son and put him on the "Dads mad f... repayment plan. Since getting accustomed to the 1911 and learning how to work on one (somewhat), I've become critical of them. Got to say I agree with 39Flathead in that if I am giong to spend $700 or so, I'm probably going to seek other alternatives regarding the 1911. I like the Ruger...for what it is.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Re: Ruger SR1911 Pricing
$525 is below cost, the clerk was obviously wrong unless that store likes giving stuff away, $625 out the door is a very reasonable price.
If I see a dealer pricing one for more than $650, that's just taking advantage of your starry eyed impatient customer that is attracted to shiny objects and less attracted to the money in their wallet.
Before I'd ever even think of paying $800 for a SR I'd be searching out a new Sig or Dan Wesson or used Colt, Wilson, etc...
I don't care what people do with their money, and if they want to spend that kind of money and give a guy that kind of profit, so be it.
I just have to wonder how many of these same guys then sit around bitching about the price of gas and the profits the evil oil companies are making...

Re: Ruger SR1911 Pricing
Clayton's has an SR 1911 in stock right now...I just had it in my hands. It's on my short list, but I can't get it right now. I think it was $639.00 or so. Someone here want to get it before it's gone?

Re: Ruger SR1911 Pricing
I did think about that, but someone should get it at a fair price, and hopefully when I'm ready to buy, I can find one at the same fair price. Not to say I didn't think long and hard about it though.
Of course, if someone from here buys it, I wouldn't mind trying it out...quality control, yeah, that's it!
