LTCF Renewal
Hi,
My LTCF expires in the next few months. So does my husband's.
When do we apply to get a renewal? I know obviously before they'd expire, but is there a set time? Does the Sheriff's office send something out?
Thanks!

Re: LTCF Renewal
I believe it is 60 days before it expires. You should get something from the sheriff but it might be late. I know I got mine renewal notice after I had already renewed.

Re: LTCF Renewal
Your best bet is to apply within 60 days of expiration whether or not you get a notice from your Sheriff.

Re: LTCF Renewal
You "should" get a notice of renewal. I believe Butler does instant renewals. Walk in and walk out with it. Not sure if they still offer the location in Crannberry or if you have to come to Butler. Might want to call the sheriff's office.

Re: LTCF Renewal
They don't 'pro-rate' your renewal either. It's a 5 year deal , period. If your current expires April 30 2012 , and you get it renewed on April 10 2012 , your new one will expire on April 10 2017. Ya lose 20 days.

Re: LTCF Renewal
About 7 years ago I renewed my LTCF, before my current one I have now, approx 90 days in advance. When the Deputy questioned me why I was renewing so early, I explained that with my work shift schedule, at the time closer to expiration date, I may not be able to get to the court house during business hours. I went within a few days of receiving the expiration notice.
He said something like "No problem, just wanted to let you know that you won't be getting your moneys worth." I am in Westmoreland County, and there is also a new Sheriff now. Not sure if there is an actual timeline for renewal policy or not. Maybe just call your county sheriff office?LUKE 11:21 == Proverbs 29:2 = Proverbs 25:28

Re: LTCF Renewal
I'm in Delco and found myself in the position of an expiring LTC and a renewal that was going to be late. Someone on this forum informed me that as long as I had applied and I was still approvable, I could continue to carry for up to 6 months on my "expired" LTC permit. My new permit was issued 12 days after the old one expired. App took 37 days. For what it's worth........
