    Unhappy I Miss Schuylkill County!

I had to take my mom to her cataract surgery early this morning in Cressona. There was some time to kill, so I took a nice leisurely drive over the Burma, past Tuscarora, and out onto 209.

I swear this area is as scenic as anywhere else in the Commonwealth, depite all the litter.

I used to drive all those backroads all the time. My parents wanted to kill me for all the miles I put on the "family cruiser". Boy, do I miss those days.

    Nostalgia sucks!!

You must have had a lot of time to kill. If you want to move back up here my house is on the market.

Flabbydan, When I has getting out of the military, I was stationed in Europe. I almost did a "European Out". That is, I was leaving active duty in Europe and was going to work as a civilian for the military. It turns out that the installation I was to work out of was on the base closure list. Needless to say I came back to my roots in Smalltown, USA (aka St. Clair). I don't regret it.

I hear that, I love to drive 209 through the state park area then up 739 to my home. 402 is another fun favorite, I love hitting it during the week days 10-11 AM when no one is around. I also like Route 6 from Milford to Honesdale. Lots of great roads to drive, the weather is getting just right and if you hit these roads on the right day/hour it's pure nirvana. Yeah this region is just awesome.
Sanity, yours if you can keep it.....

I grew up in Schuylkill county and still go back to visit relatives annually. A lot of fond memories. However, a lot has changed since I moved away 30yrs ago. The populated areas are really going down hill. However the countryside is still as beautiful as ever.

Locust lake is a hidden gem.
